(A New) Life As We Know It

Hi, I’m back—and I know it’s been way too long.

Honestly, I’ve felt uninspired. So many life events happened, and somehow, I drifted away from the things I love doing: reading and writing.

But I’m glad I’ve finally pushed myself to sit down and write again—piecing together visions, reflections, half-done drafts, and sorting through it all to figure out what to share with you. Hopefully, something here will be meaningful or helpful.

The recurring theme I’ve seen lately..in conversations, on Threads, in my own life is simply: Life.

Yep, I turned 42. And life really is like a roller coaster.

Is this what a midlife crisis looks, sounds, or feels like? (Read that in Carrie Bradshaw’s voice, please 😆)

Some not-so-great things happened. I crossed paths with some unpleasant people. Random comments stung deeper than they should’ve. I started comparing myself—unfairly—with others. Worst of all, I compared myself to people in their 20s and 30s who aren’t even married yet.

But eventually, I realized… this is life. Or at least the life I thought I knew.

This is life as we know it: joyful for 24 hours, then hitting rock bottom for months, only to have a little sprinkle of joy show up at breakfast. Then mid-day hits and, surprise—your son needs minor surgery (ingrown toenails suck), the medical bill arrives, insurance prices go up—and of course, they don’t cover this kind of thing.

And yet—at the end of the day—we got through it.

We went to bed, slept like babies, and woke up the next day to do it all again, whispering, “Today’s gonna be a good day.”

So I guess this is my official re-entry into the blog world.

What’s Coming Next?

Life continues.

Motherhood is still amazingly, surprisingly exhausting—and rewarding.

Work life can absolutely drain you… yet somehow, you still love it.

Let’s begin again, shall we?

This time around, this functional mama will be writing more about:

• Real-life Pilates (nope, not a Pilates princess here)

• Honest motherhood moments

• Hacks for dealing with a teenager

• And some personal reflections along the way

Busy mom’s life hacks of course! And not sure if Frugal Living is still a thing as i might receive some blaaahhhh … but i guess it still work.

I’ll also sprinkle in a few hacks for surviving life with a teenager. Can you believe it? My son is turning 15! Where have you been Britt?!

Thanks for reading.

And remember—Moms are cool. The coolest. End of discussion.
